With more than 28 years of experience as a United States Coast Guard Officer, Gail Kulisch has confronted a range of challenges, from earthquake response efforts to overseeing port security and incidents involving the containment of hazardous materials. Since retiring from the Coast Guard in 2012, Captain Kulisch has focused much of her attention on sharing her expertise. Currently, she owns BTG Ventures LLC, a firm that offers solutions to security and safety threats. Moreover, Gail Kulisch regularly conducts presentations on the subject of responding to and managing major incidents.
Most recently, in October 2012, Gail Kulisch held a seat on a panel as part of U.S. Air Force Strategic Deterrence Capabilities in the 21st Century Security Environment, a workshop presented by the National Academy of Sciences. As part of the workshop, Captain Kulisch delivered the presentation “Non-Traditional Approaches to Deterrence.” Additionally, Captain Kulisch recently worked with Commander Eric Telfer of the United States Coast Guard to co-author the presentation “Bringing Order to Chaos - Harnessing and Distributing Information at All Levels of Large-Scale Response.” The work was presented at the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP) 2012 National Conference held in Anchorage, Alaska.
Through BTG Ventures LLC, Gail Kulisch offers solutions regarding all-hazards emergency response management; port, waterway, and coastal security; regulatory development, oversight, and compliance; disaster recuperation planning and response; continuity of operations strategy and implementation; and more. Among the major incidents in which she has played a role, Captain Kulisch served as a Commander responding to the Haiti Earthquake, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and the LNG Tanker incident near Massachusetts Bay.
